An American classic made from scratch.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. ground beef
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 green or red bell pepper
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Finely diced onion and bell pepper in a food processor.
- Add to a pot over medium (5) heat. Cook until softened and liquid has evaporated.
- Add ground beef and cook until no longer pink.
- Stir in remaining ingredients and add water if needed.
- Simmer uncovered for 10-15 minutes until thick.
