Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Instructions
- Add ground beef to a skillet along with baking soda and salt. Cook until completely cooked and no pink remains, breaking into very small pieces as it cooks.
- Rinse cooked beef with hot water to remove excess fat, then drain well and pat dry with paper towels.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or tin foil. Spread beef evenly in a thin layer.
- Set oven to 170°F and prop door open slightly with a wooden spoon.
- Place the tray in the oven and dry for 4 hours, until beef is completely dry, hard, and crumbly. Stir every 30-45 minutes.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
- Store in airtight containers or vacuum-sealed bags.
- Keep in a cool, dark place for 1–2 months or freeze up to a year.
