My favorite way to cook salmon.
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets
Seasonings
- 2 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. oregano
- 1/4 tsp. basil
Instructions
- Combine seasonings in a small bowl and set aside.
Thawed filets
- Pat salmon fillets dry and rub seasonings on both sides.
- Heat a lightly greased cast iron skillet to medium-high (8). Once hot, add salmon fillets, skin-side down, and sear for 3 minutes.
- Flip fillets, then immediately put skillet in the oven. Bake at 400°F for 10-14 minutes, depending on thickness.
From frozen
- Rinse filets and slice into serving size pieces, if needed. Pat dry.
- Cover all sides in oil, then sprinkle seasoning on top.
- Heat cast iron to medium-high (6). Add filets to skillet skin side up. Cook for 4 minutes.
- Flip filets, then cover. Cook for another 7 minutes.
Broiler
- Cut salmon into filet size pieces, if needed.
- Add salmon pieces to a silicone mat on a baking sheet, then sprinkle pieces evenly with seasoning.
- Broil on high until salmon flakes easily with a fork, 8 minutes if thawed or 13 minutes if frozen.
