Apple pie filling

A flavorful pie filling that haha the perfect texture.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples
  • 1/4 water
  • 1/4 cup + 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and slice apples into 1/4” pieces.
  2. Add to pot with water, brown sugar, oil, and spices. Cook over medium (5) heat until apples are fork tender and sugar has dissolved, ~7 minutes, stirring often.
  3. Mix cornstarch with a few tablespoons of cooking liquid, then add to mixture along with the vanilla. Cook for another 1-2 minutes. 
  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool or use as needed.
