
Apple pie filling

A flavorful pie filling that haha the perfect texture.
Ingredients
- 4 medium apples
- 1/4 water
- 1/4 cup + 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. oil
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice apples into 1/4” pieces.
- Add to pot with water, brown sugar, oil, and spices. Cook over medium (5) heat until apples are fork tender and sugar has dissolved, ~7 minutes, stirring often.
- Mix cornstarch with a few tablespoons of cooking liquid, then add to mixture along with the vanilla. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool or use as needed.
