Bbq sauce (Stubb’s copycat)

An easy to make sauce that is better than store bought.

Ingredients

  • 1 15 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. molasses
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 3/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 3/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 3/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 1/8 tsp. xanthan gum + 1 1/2 Tbsp. warm water

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients besides xanthan gum to a pot. Stir well.
  2. Bring to a boil then lower heat to medium-low (2). Simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Whisk xanthan gum into warm water until smooth. Reduce heat to low (2). Slowly whisk slurry into the sauce. Stir 1-2 minutes until thickened.
  4. Taste and adjust flavor as desired.
  5. Cool completely before storing in fridge.

Notes

1 6 oz. can tomato paste + 3/4 cup water can be substituted for the tomato sauce
