Blackened salmon

Yield: 4 fillets

My favorite way to cook salmon.


  • 4 salmon fillets


  • 1 Tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. ancho chili powder
  • 1 tsp. salt


  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine seasonings in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Pat salmon fillets dry and rub seasonings on both sides.
  3. Heat a lightly greased cast iron skillet to medium-high (8). Once hot, add salmon fillets and sear for 3 minutes.
  4. Flip fillets, then put cast iron in oven. Bake for 10-14 minutes.
