A great birthday cake to go with countless frostings and fillings.
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 cup + 2 1/2 Tbsp. (108.8ml) vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup (3 oz.) sprinkles
Dry ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups + 2 Tbsp. (234.6g) all-purpose flour
- Scant 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/8 tsp. salt
Wet ingredients
- 1 cup + 2 Tbsp. (210g) white sugar
- 3/4 cup (183.6g) milk
- 1 1/2 tsp. white vinegar
- 1 1/2 tsp. amaretto
Instructions
- In three separate bowls, mix dry ingredients, wet ingredients, and beat egg.
- Stir oil into dry ingredients until fully combined and the texture of wet sand.
- Whisk in wet ingredients until smooth.
- Whisk in egg until smooth, ~20-30 seconds by hand or 10 seconds in a stand mixer.
- Gently fold in sprinkles, stirring for no more than 10 seconds to avoid color bleeding.
- Grease the bottom of an 8” x 8” pan and pour in batter.
- Bake at 350°F for 32 minutes.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then release cake from pan. Allow to cool in the pan at room temperature, then store in fridge.
Notes
For a 9” x 13” cake, multiply recipe by 1.5.
