An easy yet filling starch to go with stews and sauces.

  • 3 large/4 medium pieces of manioc (yucca root)

  1. Cut each piece into 3-4 smaller pieces, ~4"-5" each.
  2. Make a vertical cut in the bark until flesh is reached. Run knife underneath bark until completely detached.
  3. Cut each piece into half circles. Using knife tip, remove stringy piece from center. Place each piece into a bowl of cold water until ready to cook.
  4. Once ready to cook, place in a steamer basket. Steam for 20-30 minutes, until fork tender. Remove steamer from heat.
