Fried cabbage

A delicious side dish perfect for a hearty main course.


  • 1 small head of cabbage
  • 6 slices of bacon
  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika


  1. Dice onion, mince garlic, chop bacon into 1/2” pieces, and slice and core cabbage. Set all aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium (5) heat, fry bacon pieces until brown and crisp. Remove pieces from grease, then remove excess grease from skillet until only 2 Tbsp. remain.
  3. Add onion and sauté until translucent, ~3 minutes.
  4. Add garlic, paprika, mustard, and salt, and stir until combined. Thoroughly mix in cabbage.
  5. Allow to cook until cabbage is mostly soft, ~12 minutes, stirring often. Add bacon and adjust seasonings, as needed.
