A sweet roll that accompanies many dishes.

  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 2/3 c. warm milk
  • 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. coconut oil, melted
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3-3 1/2 c. flour

  1. Heat milk, applesauce, and sugar in a pot until ~100F. Pour into a stand mixer and add yeast. Stir to dissolve and allow to sit for 10 minutes or until starting to foam.
  2. Add in coconut oil, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix with a dough hook until well combined.
  3. Add enough flour to make a smooth dough. Knead with the machine on medium-low for ~5 minutes, until dough is smooth.
  4. Cover all sides of dough with oil and allow to rise at room temperature for 2 hours.
  5. Punch down dough and roll onto countertop. Separate into 9 equal pieces, then roll into balls, folding the bottoms under. Place in a greased 8"x8" baking dish and allow to rise for another hour.
  6. Once risen, brush tops of rolls with egg wash. Bake at 375°F for 22-25 minutes in the bottom of the oven.
